I blew up on this guy, I'll admit it, I was kind of a dick today Very Happy  Getting bad beat numerous times blows, but this one topped it off.  I don't think I played as well my last 75 hands.  It's hard when everyone has you beat all the time.  It messes with your game when your constantly getting raised on the turn, and then the aggressive tools start bluffing you.

I'm down $165 in April.   My last 4 days have been -58, -42, -55, -18.

Gross.  Tryin' to get my hands in,but I have to stop for the safety of my bankroll.

I may not play limit, but I definately feel for you here Duck.

There is a lot more to variance than just suck outs. In fact, I think it is the hands like this one that hurt the confidence so much more than the traditional suck out.

When an opponent is playing so much crap that your kings are very often the best hand, but you show down second best hand 5 or 6 times in a row. That, to me is so much more painful than some dick hitting his gutshot straight draw on the river, against my pocket aces.

It will turn around. Good luck with it.

Or alternatively, don't stop but drop back down a limit if you feel you're getting to the point where you're stretching your roll a bit thinly.  This will also no doubt reboost your confidence.

Playing your best when you're running bad is difficult enough, but doing so when you're on a tight bankroll is inviting disaster.  I should know, I did exactly this a couple of months ago whilst chasing SuperNova and had the biggest downswing of my life.  Grinding it all back again is painful to say the least.

Hope it turns around soon Duck.

I still have 440 BB.  But after dropping 25 BB in a day, for 3 to 4 days in a row, I figure I want to just come back the next day so I don't have a 50 BB drop or something along those lines.

Thanks though, mild venting Smile

Agreed.  The brutal part is that the dreaded ace hits and he starts betting.  And I was thinking he didn't have it, the way he just leads out into me.

Oh that's fine in that case, I thought you might have been getting a bit short.  Maybe just take a few days off and come back to it.

And hey at least I have rakeback coming my way now.  Oh wait... you have to win pots to get the rake you paid back    Razz

Back to The hand......... again, help me here?

I raise this on the flop.........ONLY because I am looking a cheap showdown on the river, in the odd event that he has an A.
If you had decided to call down anyway....AND you have position.../why not?, if we are 3bet on the flop we can fold safely.... No?

I will do this too on a flop of K72, with say TT-QQ, if I am led into esp with position

Regards David

I think that's a reasonable play.  I didn't want to get 3-bet, but this player is passive and probably would have checked the turn.

There is a class of limit players who play loosely for the first two streets (they see the turn card about 50%) but don't show down unless they're better than TPTK.  NL players have a certain regard for them.

Play them like you would play vs. a maniac.  Be selective, esp. PPs and no gap SCs or big one gap SCs.  Always raise to isolate, but never bet their hands for them.  It's best to sit right behind them.

Oh yeah.  43s vs utg open is an auto-call, amirite?

Yuck.  Sorry to see it.  Downswings happen, nothing you can do.  Keep putting in hands and there is no harm in dropping down if the BR is feeling a bit stretched.
