Wow.... donk.  I love when a limper with A5o gets punished like this.  The guy was real aggressive to the rest of my session.  I decided to just call the flop and lead the turn, since I was worried he would try to grab a free card, and if he had a set or a straight he would raise and let me 3-bet.

Interesting,........

I would probably have reraised the flop, my thought being a  Diamonds kills the action + if he has a Set/Str8 two pair he is never going anywhere + your hand is somewhat hidden (118-1 flopped flushes) as well as a high pair is well within your range.

Yeah I also prefer to reraise the flop most of the time, but your line is also fine to mix it up a bit.

Since I had the A Diamonds, I figured he was raising me with a made hand.  I decided that I'd just skip the flop raise and lead the turn, but based on his hand I think he would have put in extra bets on the flop as well as the turn and river.

Usually I reraise the flop, but as played, and with that turn why not c-raise him? After his raise on the flop I think he will bet his entire range on the turn(You also said in the previous post that you figured he was raising with a made hand). There are not many players who prefer to take a free card instead of continue to bet if they have initiative. And the ten is a blank. If the turn would have been another diamond then donking makes more sense because he might check behind on a 4-flush board if he doesn't have a diamond(or if he has a small flush). If you don't plan to check-raise him on the turn then I think it's better to reraise the flop.

Because if he has a very good hand, he raises the turn and allows me to 3-bet.

If you know he has a very good hand or you know you will induce a raise with your donkbet, then donkbetting is better. But most of the time he will not have a very good hand and he will just call your bet(but bet if you check to him). You can trap him for 3 big bets if he has a very good hand, like in this case. But if he hasn't a great hand you will win only 1 big bet on the turn. Unless he is passive his flop raise doesn't necessarily mean a very good hand. Also if he has a very good hand he may 3bet after you c-raise, allowing you to cap the betting.

Often if he has nothing or a draw he'll check here.  I'd rather donk-bet.  I think it's higher EV wise here.  To get the max value I think you have to reraise on the flop, or at least donk the turn.
